Kentucky Rises

As blue grass turns to brown mud And luscious valleys begin to flood The destruction makes a thud Yet water is thinner than blood

For blood, sweat, and tears Choosing bravery over fears Has been a staple here for years

And years it will take To calm the wake But nothing can take The mindset we make

So don’t mind us As we pray and cuss Appalachia knows that thus

Our houses may totter The mountains have taught her She will rise Come Hell or high water
